Aer Lingus Safety Cards
As part of the Aer Lingus rebrand designed by the creative consultancy Lippincott, I was tasked with implementing their vision for the safety cards across the Aer Lingus fleet. These were seen as one of the pivotal touchpoints of the rebranding as they appear in every seat pocket across the fleet. There were five different safety cards for five different aircraft types and each had to be customised to the different specifications of the aircraft type. These included exit doors, slide types, life rafts and even stowage of life jackets.

The solution
All onboard procedures were presented in a simple, visual shorthand with each one reduced to concise, easy to follow steps. Written language was kept to a minimum to facilitate ease of understanding. The attention to detail was crucial to the project as the design needed to adhere to strict safety protocols. To ensure appropriate levels of accuracy, I worked with, and art directed, illustrator Ron Wilson, who had worked on the previous versions of the Aer Lingus safety cards. The end solution achieved the brand vision as outlined by Lippincott and Aer Lingus. It was also approved by the Irish Aviation Authority for use on board. Credit: Ron Wilson, Lippincott.
