UCD Farewell to the Terrace
Farewell to the Terrace is an old project I worked on in BFK, but it was steeped in Irish history and working on it gave me a great deal of pleasure. The project was to celebrate UCD’s 2007 departure from Earlsfort Terrace. The university wanted to create a ‘Living History’ exhibition which traced the development of UCD at Earlsfort Terrace, whilst also mirroring Irish historical events from the 1850s right through to 1970s.

The solution
I worked in close collaboration with a UCD historian to develop a system of graphically engaging and informative exhibition panels. Each panel was split horizontally, with historical Irish events featured along the top and snippets of UCD’s history running in tandem underneath. The timeline featured accounts of academic life and perspectives on the history and the architectural heritage of the building. The exhibition was a beautiful narrative to mark the end of an era in Earlsfort Terrace. Credit: Aiden Kenny, BFK.
